Cafe Review : Coffee Stain by Joseph

Strategically located at the latest urban hangout Publika, Coffee Stain is a sure choice for the modern hipster cafe-hopper, aspiring coffee enthusiast or the everyday person looking for a yummy caffeinated work of art. Unlike the many cafes which sprouted in recent years, Coffee Stain pursues a noble cause of educating coffee drinkers. Of  the many quality beans available at Coffee Stain, most are sourced from such obscure places as Papua New Guinea, Colombia and Guatamala.

Their signature house blend include the well known espresso (RM6), caffe latte (RM8.50) or cappuccino (RM8.50). For the adventurous looking for novelty in their cup, one can go for the Gibraltar latte available at RM8.50. The drink is a cult favourite from San Francisco which bridges the sensation of macchiato and the enjoyment from latte.

Recently, Coffee Stain began stocking a single-origin selection that includes limited amounts of the best beans from around the world including the prized Geisha (RM60) from Panama and the Blue Mountain (RM39) from Jamaica, as well as the Santa Teresa from El Salvador (RM15). Such enjoyment come at a high price, however, as can be seen from their pricey nature.

Cafe Review: VCR Cafe @ Jalan Galloway Pudu

VCR Cafe

It is located on Jalan Galloway behind Swiss Garden Hotel on Jalan Pudu, look for an all grey building with a little board written VCR. This is a street that might just become a new hotspot for food and beverage.

Great entrance greeting by the coffee bar, display of cakes and amicable baristas.  The aromas of coffee and cakes also comes into play when you entered the cafe.

layout

For the second floor, VCR has a long and bright corridor with full height glass panels that allows customers to enjoy the beautiful view of Malaysia from inside. Customers can just have their conversation accompanying by the breath-taking view of Bukit Bintang.

No doubt, early morning and evening is the best time to enjoy the amazing view of sunrise and sunset with a cup of VCR coffee. This definitely has made my day.

king
The King RM12

The King-the signature cake in VCR.The perfect balance of flavour with banana sponge cake, peanut cream, bananas and chocolate. The sponge cake might be a little bit dry but the peanut cream made up for it.

french
French toast RM18

The French Toast is a must-try for those with sweet tooth, fluffy brioche french toast served with berries compote, mocha sauce, chocolate biscuit crumble, pumpkin seeds and a scoop of espresso ice cream.

granola
Granola RM18

My favourite all the time-house made crunchy granola combined with seasonal fresh fruits, rich in greek yoghurt and oolong peach infused milk.

menu

The menu also offer a wide range of coffee and my favourite is mocha. Mocha is the combination of both coffee and coco taste that just suitable for my liking. If you personally don’t like coffee, they also offer tapping tapir sodas, juice and teas.

Not to forget about the free wifi provided in VCR, 100mbps unifi speed nor the more-than-enough socket in VCR makes it a perfect place for assignment and work discussion.

The indie pop/sentimental playlist and the great customer service really impress me, perhaps not only the food is mouth-watering, but the overall service and environment makes me feels like home. I can literally spend hours here whenever I pay a visit.

If you are unsure of what beans to have, #askthebarista , they will recommend you happily according to your preference.
